With everyone around the stove, involved in the kneading and at the frying pan, at the cooking classes of Covo getting your hands dirty is obligatory, tasting is necessary, for an enjoyable experience in the kitchen of a large Italian hotel.
Aprons and chef caps await you in the kitchen of Covo dei Saraceni.
Day 3: Positano
Day at leisure.
Day 4: Private Amalfi Coast Excursion
Departure for a guided visit of “divine coast”. The Amalfi Coast or Costiera Amalfitana is a stretch of coastline on the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula extending from Positano in the west to Vietri to admire the sea villages of Positano, Ravello, and Vietri sul Mare, renowned for its rugged terrain, scenic beauty and picturesque diversity. (Includes private car and English-speaking driver.)
Day 5: Positano
Day at leisure.
Day 6: Sicily
Departure transfer, by private car and driver, from hotel in Positano to Naples Airport Arrival transfer, by private car and driver, from Catania Airport to hotel in Taormina You will check in to Hotel Casa Cuseni which is the most prestigious Villa of the City of Taormina. Due to it's highly elevated historic and artistic value, it has been declared a NATIONAL ITALIAN MONUMENT. The villa was constructed in the early twentieth century by Robert H. Kitson, a British painter of great artistic talent, along with the contributions of Sir Alfred East and Sir Cecil Arthur Hunt, who were landscape painters, and also by Sir Frank Brangwyn, very famous for having been the first designer of Louis Confort Tiffany, and for having painted the fresco in the Royal Gallery of The House Of Lords, at Westminster, as well as the Foyer of the Rockfeller Center in New York. Casa Cuseni is surrounded by an enchanting historical garden, with thirteen panoramic terraces that face the Bay of Giardini Naxos and Mount Etna.

In 1947, when Robert H. Kistson died, the House was inherited by Daphne Phelps, his niece, who transforomed part of the residence in a special museum in memory of her uncle who was a painter, and the other part into the first and only hotel for artists in Italy.
Day 7: Taormina
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide for a guided walking tour of Taormina, this lovely Sicilian town. Several civilizations shaped the history of Taormina, among them the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Normans Arabs and Spanish, all ruled the town in different times. Between Porta Catania and Porta Messina lies Corso Umberto the lively center of town lined with shops, and cafes. We admire the Duomo, the Church of San Giuseppe and ultimately, reach the Greek Roman theater, originally built by the Greeks, and enlarged by the Romans. The excursion is followed by cooking class
Day 8: Taormina
Day at leisure.
Day 9: Siracusa/Ortigia
After an energizing breakfast at the hotel you will be visiting Siracusa. You will follow the eastern coastline passing Giarre Acireale and Catania. Syracuse was not the first Greek colony of Sicily but grew very rapidly in to the point that rivaled Athens. Your guide will lead you on a tour of the archeological park including the impressive theater carved into the rock, and the Ear of Dionysius, formerly a limestone quarry. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will visit the medieval city center known as the Island of Ortigia with the Cathedral built on the Temple of Athena.
Day 10: Mt. Etna
The best things come in small packages and that’s definitely true on this evening out. A small minibus will take you on a wonderful drive along the most scenic route through lush country side up to the Mount Etna. When the lush landscape gives way to the lava and the ride becomes too bumpy for our minibus we change over to the off-road vehicles. And when it’s too much even for the off-road vehicles it’s just your turn to walk off a few calories. In the footsteps of our expert Alpine Guide, a 30 minutes trek gets you as high as you can get. Stand on this giant feel the heat underneath you, look out the sea and yet the sky is so close you can touch it. Now, add a sunset to it and you’ll have one of the most beautiful evening of your life! And if that’s not enough when you’ll back down at 2000 Mt Antonella will wait you in her mountain chalet to greet you with a typical Sicilian dinner, wine included.

  • Hi Luca,
I want to start off by saying thank you for making the accommodations, they’ve been lovely. Florence was more than we could imagine, the hotel and staff were exceptional. As was Venice, so far I love Venice more than any city so far.  Thank you very much for helping to change things around for us. The room they moved us to in Rome is sooooo much better. The window lets in fresh air and there’s more space. Roberto, the manager, says hello. He said he is friends with your father and was pleased to help us out. Our day is off to a much better start and I feel so much better. Grazie Mille.

Please let Luca know that he was great and so accommodating. He was also very patient. I can’t praise him enough. He is a consummate professional and Luca is very lucky to have him.
I loved everything about the trip – Sicily was wonderful. You put together a wonderful time for both me and my aunt. I will definitely sing your praises to anyone that needs to take a trip. Hopefully I will be able to travel overseas again where I would definitely be in touch.
    Have a great day.
